Waverley Excursions has announced that ‘Save The Waverley – Boiler Refit Appeal’ will be launched on Saturday 15th June 2019 as per the news item below:

We are looking for as many people as possible to help launch the appeal at 12 noon on Saturday 15th June. Simply by turning up at Waverley’s berth at the Glasgow Science Centre you will help show this iconic ship is worth saving.

We will have a Waverley Souvenir stall where you can purchase exclusive Waverley Souvenirs – including new items produced for 2019.

We will also have flyers and leaflets available which can then be distributed and passed on.

To help with the appeal and keep all costs to a minimum we are looking for sponsorship for the following items:

• Appeal Logo & letterhead – already provided by PR Print
• Appeal banners for displaying on Waverley
• Flyers
• Leaflets
• Posters
• Donation boxes
• Postage for leaflets

We have continued to receive donations since Waverley’s withdrawal was announced and the level of support gives encouragement that this magnificent vessel must be saved.

The work needed is extensive as these images of the boiler room show.

Looking forward over both boilers – this image helps convey a sense and scale of the work involved in removing fittings – not forgetting the removal of the funnels and deck.
