Work is continuing apace on the first phase of KC’s major rebuild at Dartmouth.

Ships are built for a lifespan of about 25 years. To keep them in service longer than that major structural renewals are generally needed. It is now more than 30 years since we returned KC to service on the Medway with full Passenger Certificates in 1985. That is why she needs major work on her basic fabric and structure now to keep her in service for the next 25 years to enable present and future generations to continue to enjoy sailing back in time aboard her.

The rebuild is currently planned to be in three phases with the overall cost expected to come in at over £1 million. We have the funding in place for phase 1 of this rebuild but will need more for phases 2 and 3.
