Balmoral Sold for £1

Like Waverley 41 years ago Balmoral has been sold for £1 by Waverley Steam Navigation Company to her new owners, MV Balmoral Fund Ltd.

It had been hoped to arrange a small ceremony to hand over the money but distance and the pressure of work to get Balmoral ready for her first sailing ruled that out.

Paddle Steamer Preservation Society Chairman Iain Dewar, who was in Scotland anyway, offered to provide the £1 and pass it across to WSN on behalf of MVBFL during Waverley’s first trip of the season, on Thursday 21st May 2015.

In the picture below Iain points to the coin now firmly in the possession of WSN Chairman Lawrie Sinclair.
