The Scottish Branch is pleased to announce that we have been invited to attend an Anniversary Dinner to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of The Glasgow Speakers Club and the 70th Anniversary of Waverley’s first sailing in June 1947.

The dinner will take place in the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow on Friday 31st March and tickets are now on sale. The evening will feature several entertaining speeches including one from Honorary Scottish Branch President Douglas McGowan MBE.

The Central Hotel does feature in Waverley’s early preservation story since some of the early Board meetings of Waverley Steam Navigation Company were held in the famous building. Indeed on the 15th February 1975 one Board meeting lasted for 7 hours in the famous hotel!

The ticket price includes a drink on arrival and a three-course meal. Tickets can be purchased using the booking form which was sent out with the recent winter edition of Paddle Wheels and is shown below.
