Waverley has taken her first voyage of 2023 where she made the journey from her Winter berth in Glasgow to the Garvel Dry Dock in Greenock.

Waverley’s boilers were first fired up on Friday (10th March) and tested up to pressure on Tuesday (14th March). The following day her engine and paddles were turned for the first time in 2023 and on Thursday (16th March) she made her first voyage. Setting off from the Glasgow Science Centre shortly after 1:30 pm, Waverley sailed downriver passed the Tall Ship Glenlee and under the Erskine Bridge. After passing Greenock, she turned around and berthed at Custom House Quay where she took a pilot. From there she proceeded over to the Garvel Dry Dock.

It is expected that Waverley will spend just over a week in dry dock before shifting to the adjacent James Watt Dock for further works.

The following video of Waverley’s journey has been made by the Scottish Branch of PSPS. It features her departure from Glasgow, arrival at Greenock and move over to the Garvel Dry Dock.
