Waverley – A Private Function
In the background is the distinctive 127m high Glasgow Tower completed in 2001. Last July the troubled tower inherited the title of tallest free standing structure in Scotland following the demolition of another Waverley landmark, the chimney of Inverkip Power Station. The tower has been plagued by construction defects and has been closed to the public for more than half of its life. With the prolonged legal battle concluded, remedial work is once again under way and the tower is scheduled to reopen in the summer of 2014.
Glasgow Tower will once again offer a fine vantage point from which to observe Waverley paddling up the Clyde.
