Ullswater ‘Steamers’ Trip – Saturday 11th June 2016

The Scottish Branch of the PSPS and the Coastal Cruising Association (CCA) are jointly arranging an outing from Glasgow to visit the Ullswater ‘steamers’ on Saturday 11th June.

Ullswater ‘Steamers’ have been sailing on the lake since 1859 and the classic fleet incorporates one of the oldest working passenger vessels in the world. Built in 1877, M.Y. Lady of the Lake was a product of Seath’s yard in Rutherglen Glasgow, and her fleet mate Raven was also built in Rutherglen and entered service just 12 years later.

Ullswater is unique in the Lake District, sculpted by three separate glaciers in the last Ice Age and the valley itself is home to some of England’s rarest wildlife. Today the ‘Steamers’ provide the perfect opportunity to cruise this beautiful lake.

On Saturday 11th June depart from Glasgow’s George Square at 9 am and travel to Pooley Bridge by inclusive coach. An all day ticket will allow unlimited travel on all the lake ‘Steamers’ operating the public timetable. The return coach will depart Pooley Bridge at 5:30 pm arriving back in Glasgow at 8 pm. Further details for Ullswater ‘Steamers’, including the timetable, are available at http://www.ullswater-steamers.co.uk.
