Supporting the preservation and operation of paddle steamers Waverley and Kingswear Castle
Kingswear Castle is the Society’s coal fired river paddle steamer now on extended charter to the Dartmouth Steam Railway and Riverboat Company and used on summer excursions from Dartmouth and Totnes on the River Dart in South Devon.
Fifty summers ago, in 1964, there were still four paddle steamers operating on the Clyde, the Jeanie Deans, Waverley, Caledonia and Talisman.
On Friday 29th March Kingswear Castle was once again offering cruises on the River Dart. Her last public sailing on the Dart was in 1965 before she was purchased by the PSPS for the sum of £600.
