Waverley’s Boilers arrive in Great Yarmouth having left the previous day from Cochran Boilers Newbie Works in Annan, Dumfries. BBC Scotland and Borders TV both carried footage of the event on their evening news. This view shows the starboard boiler prior to being lifted from the transport.
A similar view of the port boiler, the attachments to the boiler feet are temporary jacking posts and will be removed prior to final placement.
The starboard boiler “in flight”.
Touchdown. The boilers will remain on this secure berth, under tarpaulins, until they are lifted into Waverley over the weekend of the 27th May.
A view of the Great Yarmouth Port Authority crane which can lift approx. 50 tons at full reach, but approx. 200 tons straight lift when suitably cabled up.
Both boilers on the quay. One more lift to go. Watch this space!
