Some Postcards from the Collection
The postcard collection comprises of over 4,800 postcards covering a wide range of dates and subjects the earliest dating from the Edwardian era.
As well as those produced by shipping companies many of the early ones in the collection were produced by local postcard photographers in the areas that the ships operated. In addition to depicting people, places and humour the vast majority of the postcards relate to the vessels that sailed through each decade of the 20th century. These include the ships which still sail today.
