Please see additional information below.
- A booklet containing this Notice, the Explanatory Notes and the Annual Report will be available at the meeting. The Annual Report is available at the following address:

- Any member of the Society may appoint a proxy to attend and vote in his or her stead. A proxy need not be a member of the Society. Proxy forms must be lodged with the Secretary 48 hours before the meeting. To avoid the expense of reconvening the meeting if a quorum is not present, please consider appointing the Chairman of the Meeting as your proxy if you are unable to attend. A form may be downloaded here. Under our Articles of Association, the quorum for a General Meeting is 30 members present in person or by proxy.
- Thanks are due to the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, and the Wessex and Dart Branch for making the arrangements for the meeting.
- Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is only a few minutes’ walk from Portsmouth Harbour railway station/Transport interchange. It is clearly signposted.
- Parking and full details of facilities at the dockyard are available at https://historicdockyard.co.uk/
- The AGM will be followed with a talk by Henry Cleary, a Trustee of the Maritime Heritage Trust, and a member of the panel of experts at National Historic Ships UK. He was instrumental in saving the steam ‘puffer’ VIC56. (The vessel is usually moored next to HMS Warrior and can be seen on entering the dockyard.)
ARRANGEMENTS FOR PSPS NATIONAL AGM – 25 October 2025
Princess Royal Gallery – Portsmouth Historic Dockyard
As hosts of the Society’s 2025 National AGM the Wessex and Dart Branch of the Society is pleased to
detail the arrangements at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and hopes to welcome you there. The
meeting will be held in the Princess Royal building within the Historic Dockyard and Museum area.
The nearest railway station is Portsmouth Harbour Station. The Hard (transport) interchange (local
buses and national coach services) is immediately outside and the (well sign posted) National
Historic Dockyard is visible and 5 minutes walk at most. The Gosport ferry and Wightlink catamaran
operate nearby. If coming by road – from the M27, take junction 12 for the M275. Follow the
‘Historic Dockyard’ signs on the motorway and in Portsmouth. The signs will lead you to an official
car park 400 yards from the entrance at Victory Gate.
The Dockyard is a working Royal Naval establishment, with a strong security presence. To comply
with these security measures, we ask you to read the following instructions carefully and abide by
them.
On the day there will be bag searches taking place at the Dockyard entrance. Please bring a form of
identification (eg your driving licence, senior bus pass, passport etc). Members of the Wessex
Branch committee will be present to welcome you and assist with any problems.
After entering the Dockyard, keep walking in a straight line, passing several buildings, and the
Gallery is on your left above the tourist shop. Access is by stairs or by lift.
The Branch has been asked to provide a list of names of those attending the AGM, two weeks prior to
the meeting. There is no charge to enter the Dockyard and attend the AGM. If you wish to visit any
of the attractions (eg HMS Victory, Mary Rose, HMS Warrior) on the Saturday morning between 10am
and the start of the meeting at 1.30pm, we have arranged special admission prices: one attraction –
£11; two attractions – £21. Again, those wishing to take up these offers must apply, and pay, two
weeks prior to the meeting. We have arranged booking facilities, to attend the AGM and book
attractions, using Eventbrite.
Please search: Eventbrite: Events – Paddle Steamer Preservation; Location – Portsmouth.
Those with internet access are strongly encouraged to use this facility. Pre booked tickets will be
available to collect at the visitor entrance from 10am.
The Dockyard opens at 10am and closes at 5.30pm. The AGM will commence at 1.30pm. Members are
welcome to arrive at the Princess Royal Gallery from 12.30pm. We will aim to close the meeting at
5pm to vacate the gallery and leave the premises in good time.
For those wishing a ‘traditional’ method of booking, please email kma53@btinternet.com
PLEASE: Book/Post to arrive by Thursday 9 October, so that we can comply with Dockyard
requirements. Thank you.
