17th August 2026: Low Water Lake Zurich

Low water levels are affecting sailings on Lake Zurich. As of 17th August there are service restrictions as follows:

  • Cancellation of the Limmat River Boat Tour
  • The Small Lake Cruise operates without Service 41 (departure Bürkliplatz at 14:30) and Service 71 (departure Bürkliplatz at 19:30).
  • The Large Lake Cruise operates without Service 103 (dep. Bürkliplatz at 10:20) and Service 104 (dep. Rapperswil at 12:40).
  • Erlenbach, Küsnacht-Heslibach and Wollishofen are not served by the short lake cruise.

Also only the paddle steamer Stadt Zurich has been in service this season.

Following work on her machinery last winter PS Stadt Rapperswil has been unable to run trials due to a shortage of personnel. She remains tied up in the shipyard.

As of 17th August for Lakes Lucerne, Geneva, Thun and Brienz water levels remain around the levels normally expected at this time of year, sustained by glacial meltwater coming down from the mountains.
