PS Maid of the Loch Opens For Easter
Maid of the Loch, Loch Lomond’s Paddle Streamer, re-opens after the winter in time for Easter. The Maid will be open from Saturday 12th April every day until 27th April, 11am to 5pm, admission free.
John Beveridge, Director of the Loch Lomond Steamship Company, the charity that owns the Maid, said, “We are pleased that spring is in the air again, and we can lower the gangways and invite visitors back on board. Our volunteers have given the tea room a make-over with a new floor and heaters, and we are delighted that Mrs Codona is back serving hot and cold snacks, teas, coffees, and cakes.”
The Maid’s volunteers have also been hard at work over winter repairing and maintaining the ship, and are still in the process of giving her a spring clean and paint.
John then also said, “The Balloch Steam Slipway will be ‘In Steam’ on Saturday, Sunday, and Easter Monday, so this is the first chance to see the historic steam engine in operation this year. We are still planning the dates for our ‘In Steam’ days for this year, but these will be available soon.” And he added, “Maid of the Loch will be open every day during the school holidays, then it will be weekends only until the end of June. The Maid will then be open every day from the end of June through to September.”
Volunteers are welcome – join the Maid’s ‘crew’, no skills required, just helping with painting, cleaning, and general maintenance. Joinery, electrical, or plumbing skills especially welcome, and this year the charity is looking for hosts/guides that can show groups and visitors around the ship.
