The room was packed for the March meeting of the Scottish Branch during which the three presenters looked back at 40 years of Waverley Steam Navigation Company.
Following the success of the Ship Ahoy Maritime Heritage Exhibition last year, the Ship Ahoy Team has decided to mount a similar exhibition, in a new venue, on Saturday 5th April 2014.
Preparations are now well underway for MV Balmoral to at last leave her berth in Bristol City Docks for the Sharpness Dry Dock.
The Scottish Branch has arranged two charters for 2014; the Branch’s annual fundraising cruise on 26th June and a full day charter on 8th August marking the 40th anniversary of the sale of Waverley to the Society.
In 2014 three Swiss Paddle Steamers celebrate their 100th birthday. The class of 1914 includes Stadt Rapperswil on Lake Zurich, Savoie on Lake Geneva and Lötschberg on Lake Brienz.
Considering the recent weather there was a little doubt cast over the Scottish Branch Festive Cruise but fortunately the weather abated sufficiently, allowing the Branch charter to go ahead as planned.
Voyage of the Maid is a new DVD which tells the story of Loch Lomond’s last paddle steamer, Maid of the Loch. The DVD has been produced to help raise funds for the appeal to get the Maid back in steam and sailing on Loch Lomond one again. The appeal, launched just nine months ago,…

Waverley finally left Glasgow at 1630 on Saturday 1st June heading for Liverpool after being delayed due to a technical issue.
